A pale, washed oak plank with a grip surface. Del Mar White Oak Anti-Slip carries the same light grey-beige grain as the matt white oak, over a fine texture that gives traction when wet. It is the plank to use on a terrace, a balcony or a wet-room floor.

The format is 202x802mm, eight planks to a box and 1.30m² of coverage. Laid in a staggered bond outside it reads as pale decking; inside it reads as limed floorboards. Matching it to the indoor matt plank keeps one colour running through the house and garden.

Porcelain will not grey, warp or splinter the way timber decking does, and it needs no oil or stain. It is listed for walls and floors, and the anti-slip finish is made for external use. The pale colour reflects heat and shows less dust than dark planks.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.30 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Outside, fix on a full bed of flexible, frost-proof porcelain adhesive over a solid base with a drainage fall, using 3-5mm joints and an exterior-grade grout. Inside, a flexible porcelain adhesive on a flat floor with 2-3mm joints. Stagger joints by a third and blend boxes.
