Kartell K-VIT Curve Mini Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP283CU)

The Kartell K-VIT Curve range does what its name suggests — a bold curved spout arcing out of a clean, slightly angular body. This is the mini mono basin mixer in polished chrome, and it comes complete with a clicker waste.

When to choose the mini

A mini basin mixer is shorter in the body and spout than a standard one. It suits a cloakroom basin, a compact vanity unit, or any basin where a full-size tap looks oversized.

At 0.54kg this is a genuinely small tap — the lightest in the Curve range by some way. On a small cloakroom basin that's exactly right; on anything approaching full size it will look lost.

The curved spout helps here more than it does on a full-size tap: the arc pushes the outlet forward over the bowl, which partly offsets the shorter reach you'd otherwise get from a mini. Still, as a rule, if the basin is over about 450mm wide use the standard Curve mono basin mixer instead.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems — useful in older properties, where a cloakroom is often the furthest point from the hot cylinder and the worst-served tap in the house.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation is smooth and far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

Also in matt black

The same design is made in matt black as Curve Nero. In a small cloakroom a black tap can carry the whole room — though it shows limescale far more than chrome and must never see descaler.
