Kartell K-VIT Curve Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP280CU)

The Kartell K-VIT Curve range does what its name suggests — a bold curved spout arcing out of a clean, slightly angular body. It's more of a design statement than the plain cylindrical ranges, without going as far as the fully square Pure.

This is the mono basin mixer in polished chrome, and it comes complete with a clicker waste.

What the curve actually does

Beyond looks, an arced spout puts the outlet further forward over the bowl than a straight vertical body of the same height. That's genuinely useful — more room to get your hands under, and water landing nearer the middle of the basin rather than the back.

The trade-off is that it needs a bit more space in front of the tap hole. On a very shallow basin the arc can put the outlet close to the front edge, so it's worth eyeing up your bowl depth before ordering.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems, so it works on gravity-fed plumbing — a tank in the loft and a hot cylinder — as well as combi and mains pressure.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation gives full flow from a small movement of the lever, and is far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

At 0.73kg this is one of the lighter basin mixers Kartell make — less substantial in the hand than a heavier range, though the mechanism is the same throughout.

Also in matt black

The same design is made in matt black as Curve Nero. Worth knowing before you choose: black shows limescale and water spotting far more than chrome, and must never see limescale remover. Chrome is the easier finish to live with; black is the bigger statement.
