A classic chrome ladder towel rail that runs on electricity alone. It has straight, round 22mm bars between two D-shaped uprights, arranged in groups with gaps for folded towels, and a polished chrome finish that suits almost any bathroom. Because it doesn’t need to be connected to your central heating, you can have warm, dry towels all year round – even in summer when the heating is off.

This is the thermostatic version: the element has a dial so you can turn the temperature up or down to suit you through the seasons, rather than the rail simply being on or off. For a simpler, lower-cost option there is also an on/off version.

It comes in three sizes – 800mm, 1000mm or 1200mm high, all 500mm wide. Choose your size from the dropdown.

Fitting

This towel rail is designed for electric-only installation – it must not be connected to a central heating system. The heating element comes ready fitted with a 1.5m cable (fly-lead), and the wall brackets and fixings are supplied. It is rated IPX4, meaning it is protected against splashing water.

Electric towel rails in bathrooms must be wired in line with the UK wiring regulations, which set out where electrical equipment can go in relation to the bath and shower. We recommend having it installed by a qualified electrician. Make sure the wall can take the weight: solid walls are straightforward, but stud and plasterboard walls need suitable fixings or a timber support behind the board.

Looking after the finish

Wipe over with a soft, damp cloth and dry to avoid water marks. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and limescale removers, which can damage the chrome finish. Switch the rail off and let it cool before cleaning.
