Kartell K-VIT G4K Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP110G4K)

The Kartell K-VIT G4K range is the budget end of the Kartell brassware line — plain, single-lever, chrome, and priced to suit a rental, a second bathroom, or a job where the taps need to work rather than impress.

This is the mono basin mixer, and at this price the detail that matters most is that it comes complete with a click waste. Buying a waste separately would add roughly two-thirds again to the cost of the tap.

What you're actually getting for the money

Being straight about it: this is a simple tap. There's no design story, no unusual finish, no clever spout. What it does have, which cheaper supermarket taps often don't:

• Solid brass body, not zinc alloy or plastic — the thing that determines whether a tap survives a decade
• Ceramic disc cartridge, so it shouldn't drip the way a washer tap eventually will

If you're fitting out a flat, a loft conversion or a utility, that combination is hard to beat. If it's the main bathroom of a house you're staying in, it's worth looking at Plan or Pure for not a great deal more.

Will it work with my water pressure?

Yes. G4K is suitable for low pressure systems, so it works on gravity-fed plumbing as well as combi and mains pressure.
