Kartell K-VIT Kolt Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP300KCP)

The Kartell K-VIT Kolt range pairs a squared-off body with softly rounded edges — sharper than a plain cylindrical tap, but without the hard corners of a fully square design. It's the range to pick when you want something with a bit more presence than a basic round mixer.

This is the mono basin mixer in polished chrome, and it comes complete with a matching basin waste — worth noting, because most basin mixers don't include one and it's an easy £25 to forget.

Will it work with my water pressure?

Yes, and better than most. Kolt needs only 0.2 bar to operate — low even by low-pressure standards. That makes it a safe choice in an older property on gravity-fed plumbing, where a tank in the loft and a hot cylinder often can't drive a tap that wants 0.5 or 1.0 bar.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation is what determines how a tap feels and how long it lasts. Ceramic discs don't perish the way rubber washers do, so dripping is far less likely, and a quarter turn gives full flow from a small movement of the lever.

Polished chrome is the easiest of the four Kolt finishes to live with — it hides water spotting better than matt black or the brushed finishes, and needs nothing more than a wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and don't leave limescale remover to soak, which dulls the plating over time.

The same tap in four finishes

Kolt is made in polished chrome, matt black, brushed brass and brushed nickel — the same shapes throughout, so you can run one design across a whole bathroom and pick the finish that suits the room. Chrome is the most affordable of the four.

Within the chrome range there's also a mini basin mixer for smaller basins, a hi-rise version for countertop bowls, a bath filler and a bath shower mixer. Kartell also make matching Kolt shower valves.
