Kartell K-VIT Kolt Mini Mono Basin Mixer – Matt Black (TAP312KBL)

The Kartell K-VIT Kolt range pairs a squared-off body with softly rounded edges. This is the mini mono basin mixer in matt black — the same design as the standard Kolt basin mixer, scaled down.

When to choose the mini

A mini basin mixer is shorter in the body and spout than a standard one. It suits a cloakroom basin, a compact vanity unit, or any basin where a full-size tap looks oversized and the spout would overhang too far into the bowl.

The trade-off is reach. A shorter spout lands water closer to the back of the basin, which is fine in a small bowl but can mean washing your hands against the ceramic in a larger one. As a rule: if the basin is under about 450mm wide, the mini is usually the better proportion.

Note this one doesn't include a waste, unlike the standard Kolt mono basin mixer in black, which comes with a matching black clicker waste. If you're buying this one, budget for a black waste separately — a chrome one will spoil the look.

Water pressure

Kolt needs only 0.2 bar, which is low even by low-pressure standards — useful in older properties, where a cloakroom is often the furthest point from the hot cylinder and the worst-served tap in the house.

Living with matt black

Black brassware makes a strong statement against a white basin, and in a small cloakroom a black tap can carry the whole room.

Worth knowing that matt black shows limescale and water spotting more than chrome — white marks stand out against a dark surface. A wipe dry after use keeps it sharp. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth only; never use abrasive cleaners or limescale remover, which will dull or strip the coating.

Kolt is made in matt black, polished chrome, brushed brass and brushed nickel. For a full-size basin, the standard Kolt mono basin mixer includes a waste and costs only a little more.
