The Kartell K-VIT Kore range is a clean, round, minimal collection of brassware. This is the freestanding bath shower mixer in polished chrome — a floor-mounted tap on a tall column, designed for a freestanding bath that sits away from the wall.

This needs planning before the floor goes down

This is the important part. A freestanding tap is plumbed up through the floor, which means the pipework has to be run and the position fixed before you tile or board. Getting it wrong is not a matter of moving the tap a few inches later — it means lifting the floor.

Measure carefully from the bath, and remember the tap needs enough clearance to swing the spout over the rim without fouling it. If the bath hasn't been chosen yet, choose it first.

What you get

A tall floor-standing column with a swan neck spout, dual lever handles and a shower handset on a hose sitting in a holder alongside. The diverter switches between filling the bath and the handset.

It's a substantial piece of metalwork — 3.68kg and 296mm across the base — so the floor fixing needs to be solid. Read the fitting instructions before you commit to a position.

Before you order

The waste is sold separately. Freestanding baths usually need a specific waste and often a floor-routed trap, so factor that in.

Suitable for low pressure systems, though a freestanding installation on gravity-fed plumbing will fill slowly — worth checking your pressure before committing to this style.
