Kartell K-VIT New York 900 x 500mm Towel Rail – Chrome (JFK)
New York is a chrome plated designer towel rail from Kartell with an unusual open, one-sided design. Two slim D-shaped uprights stand close together at one side, and twelve round bars run through them and out to the other side, where they stop with open ends – so towels slide straight on from the side instead of being threaded through. The bars are set in four groups of three, and within each group they step out in length (400mm, 450mm and 500mm), giving the rail its staggered look and making each towel easy to reach.
A bright chrome finish suits almost any bathroom and matches chrome taps, showers and accessories.

Is it the right size for your room?
At 900mm tall and 500mm wide at its longest bars, New York suits a cloakroom, en-suite or smaller bathroom. Chrome towel rails like this are made mainly to warm and dry towels; if it will be the only heat in the room, check its output against what the room needs – a BTU calculator will give you a figure from the room's size, windows and outside walls. Kartell quote the output at Δt60, a standard test temperature. Many modern boilers, and especially heat pumps, run cooler than that, so the heat you actually get may be lower than the figure shown.
Fitting
New York is supplied with everything needed to fix it to the wall, and is pressure tested up to 13 bar. Valves are sold separately – chrome valves will match; see our towel radiator valves.
The pipe connections are at the bottom of the two uprights, only 100mm apart (the “tapping centres”), so the pipework comes up together at one side rather than at each end. That is very different from most towel rails, so if you are replacing an existing one, expect the pipes to need moving.
The rail stands 90–105mm out from the wall, with the centre of the uprights 65–80mm out from the wall. Make sure the wall can take the weight once the rail is full of water and towels: solid walls are straightforward, but stud and plasterboard walls need suitable heavy-duty fixings or a timber support behind the board.
Looking after the finish
Wipe over with a soft, damp cloth and dry to avoid water marks. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and limescale removers, which can damage chrome plating.
