The Kartell K-VIT Plan range is round-bodied and quietly contemporary. This is the 4 hole bath shower mixer — the most involved bath tap arrangement, and the one that needs the most checking before you buy.

What "4 hole" means

Instead of a single unit spanning two holes, the parts are separated across four holes in the bath rim: a spout, two handles either side, and a shower handset in its own holder. It gives a wide, deliberate look that suits a large bath — and it's what you need if your bath is already drilled that way.

Check your bath before ordering. A 4 hole mixer needs four holes at the right centres. It will not fit a standard two-hole bath, and this is not something you can adapt around — it's the single most common reason this type goes back.

If your bath has two holes, you want the standard Plan bath shower mixer instead.

Before you order

Uses 3/4" BSP connections. The waste is sold separately.

Suitable for low pressure systems, though a 4 hole set on gravity-fed plumbing will fill slowly and the handset will be a gentle spray. That's your pressure, not the tap.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridges with quarter-turn operation give full flow from a small movement, and are far less prone to dripping than washer taps. It's a substantial fitting at 2.88kg — the heaviest tap in the Plan range.
