Kartell K-VIT Kolt Hi-Rise Mono Basin Mixer Brushed Brass (TAP321KBB)

The Kartell K-VIT Kolt range pairs an angular tap body with a right-angle spout. This is the hi-rise mono basin mixer in brushed brass — a taller version of the standard Kolt basin mixer, with the spout raised well clear of the basin.

When you need a hi-rise

A standard basin mixer sits low, which is right for a basin with the tap hole in its rim. But if you have a countertop or vessel basin — a bowl sitting on a worktop or vanity unit — a standard tap will be too short and the spout will sit at or below the rim.

Measure the height of your bowl from the worktop before choosing, and check the spout reaches far enough over to land water near the middle rather than the edge. A taller spout also means a longer drop, so splashing is more likely in a shallow dish.

On a countertop installation the tap is fully on show, which is where a brushed brass finish earns its money — it reads as a deliberate feature rather than plumbing.

Why brushed brass

Softer and less reflective than polished brass, and it doesn't date the way shiny gold does. It also hides water spotting and fingerprints better than polished chrome, because there's no mirror surface to show them.

Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives and limescale remover, which will damage the brushed surface.

Water pressure

Kolt needs only 0.2 bar, so it works on gravity-fed plumbing as well as mains pressure.

The same tap in four finishes

Kolt is made in brushed brass, polished chrome, matt black and brushed nickel. If your basin has a rim tap hole rather than being a countertop bowl, the standard Kolt mono basin mixer is the one you want.
