Kartell K-VIT Nero Round Hi-Rise Mono Basin Mixer – Matt Black (TAP414NR)

The Kartell K-VIT Nero Round range is a clean, round, minimal collection of brassware in matt black. This is the hi-rise mono basin mixer — a taller version of the standard Nero Round basin mixer, with the spout raised well clear of the basin.

When you need a hi-rise

A standard basin mixer sits low, which is right for a basin with the tap hole in its rim. But if you have a countertop or vessel basin — a bowl sitting on a worktop or vanity unit — a standard tap will be too short and the spout will sit at or below the rim.

Measure the height of your bowl from the worktop before choosing, and check the spout reaches far enough over to land water near the middle rather than the edge. A taller spout also means a longer drop, so splashing is more likely in a shallow dish.

Living with matt black

Black brassware makes a strong statement against a white bowl, and on a countertop basin the tap is very much on show — which is the point, but also means limescale and water spotting show more than they would on chrome, and more than on a standard basin mixer where the body sits lower.

Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth only. Never use abrasive cleaners or limescale remover, which will dull the coating.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems, so it works on gravity-fed plumbing as well as mains pressure.

The same design in three finishes

Nero Round is the matt black version of a design Kartell also make in polished chrome as the Kore range and brushed brass as Ottone. If your basin has a rim tap hole rather than being a countertop bowl, the standard Nero Round mono basin mixer is the one you want — and it includes a waste, which this one doesn't.
