Kartell K-VIT Pure Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP050PR)

The Kartell K-VIT Pure range is the properly square one — a flat rectangular spout and a square body, with none of the softening you get on Kolt. It's the sharpest-looking range in the Kartell line, and the one to pick for a modern bathroom with square sanitaryware and clean lines.

This is the mono basin mixer in polished chrome.

Square means square

Worth being clear, because "square" gets used loosely. Kolt is squared-off with rounded edges — a compromise that works in most rooms. Pure is genuinely angular, with a flat blade spout.

That's a strong look and it needs the room to match. Against a round basin or a traditional pedestal it will fight the shapes around it. Against a square countertop basin or a modern vanity it looks deliberate and expensive.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems, so it works on gravity-fed plumbing — a tank in the loft and a hot cylinder — as well as combi and mains pressure.

One thing worth knowing about flat blade spouts: they tend to produce a wide, thin stream rather than a round one, which looks striking at good pressure but can feel weak on a low-pressure system. If your pressure is marginal, that's worth factoring in.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation gives full flow from a small movement and is far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

Square profiles have more corners for limescale to sit in than round ones, so in a hard water area a regular wipe keeps it looking sharp. Polished chrome needs nothing more than a soft cloth — avoid abrasives and don't leave descaler to soak.

Note on the waste

Unlike the Plan and Klassique basin mixers, Kartell don't list a waste with this one. Budget for a square-profile basin waste to match — a round chrome one will look out of place against this spout.
