Kartell K-VIT Times Pair Bath Pillar Taps Chrome (TAP085TI)

The Kartell K-VIT Times range is traditional in spirit but not fussy — crosshead handles marked hot and cold, in polished chrome. This is a pair of bath pillar taps: two separate taps, one hot and one cold.

Pillar taps or a bath filler?

Pillar taps are the traditional arrangement — two separate taps, no mixing. Hot comes out of one, cold out of the other, and you fill the bath with both running.

Choose them where the look matters and authenticity is the point: a period bathroom, a roll-top bath, or a room where a single mixer spout would look wrong. They suit a two tap hole bath.

The honest trade-off: you can't set a temperature at the tap. You fill and mix in the bath, which is how bathrooms worked for a century but is less convenient than a bath filler, where one spout delivers water already mixed. If convenience matters more than period accuracy, the bath filler is the better buy.

Before you order

Check your bath has two tap holes at the correct centres. Pillar taps won't fit a single-hole bath, and a bath drilled for a mixer usually has the holes closer together than a pillar tap pair needs.

Uses 3/4" BSP connections, larger than basin taps.

The waste is sold separately.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems, so they work on gravity-fed plumbing as well as mains pressure — useful in the older properties this style tends to suit.

Living with them

The ceramic disc cartridges with quarter-turn operation give the period look without the period maintenance. Traditional pillar taps were the classic dripper; these shouldn't be.
