Forest is an earthy, mid-to-dark green, more woodland than mint. It is bolder than the standard green in this range and the gloss glaze makes the colour saturate rather than soften. Tiles vary in tone, so a wall of them shows light and dark patches like leaves in shade.

Small 240x60mm bricks like this suit a herringbone, which breaks the colour up, or a horizontal stack, which lets it run as a solid band. Kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living areas are all natural homes for it. It also holds its own against timber and brass.

The tile is porcelain and is suitable for walls and floors on both internal and external projects, so a garden wall can echo the kitchen behind it. The glossy face is easy to keep clean and needs no sealing. Sold by the box of 36, around 0.52m².

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 0.52 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Lay on a flexible porcelain adhesive, back-buttering floor tiles so the bed is solid. Allow a 2mm to 3mm joint and use a grout colour that sits close to the glaze or deliberately contrasts. Blend tiles from several boxes to spread the colour variation.
