A white marble-effect porcelain in a matt finish, with subtle grey veining across a 600x600mm square. The matt surface gives the marble a soft, honed look rather than a polished one, and it keeps a bathroom or hallway floor bright.

A box holds three tiles for 1.08m² of coverage. The large square lays in a straight grid and suits bathroom, kitchen and hallway floors. The manufacturer's specification lists it for floor use; its product name describes it as a floor and wall tile.

Porcelain gives the marble look without the staining or sealing that real marble needs. The manufacturer rates it for bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories, hallways and living areas, and says it makes a room feel bright and airy.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.08 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Fit on a flat base using a flexible porcelain adhesive and a full bed. Mix tiles from several boxes so the veining is spread naturally across the floor. Use a 2-3mm joint with a white or light grey grout and wipe the matt face clean before the grout dries. Dry-lay a row to balance the cuts.
