The Kartell K-VIT G4K range is the budget end of the Kartell brassware line — plain, chrome, and priced for a rental, a second bathroom, or a job where the taps need to work rather than impress. Kartell call it “reliable and highly functional… whilst keeping under budget”, which is a fair description.

This is the bath filler: a deck-mounted single-lever tap that sits on the rim of the bath and fills it, with no shower function.

Bath filler or bath shower mixer?

A bath filler (this one) just fills the bath. Choose it where you have a separate shower, or no shower over the bath at all.

A bath shower mixer adds a diverter and a handset so you can shower over the bath. It is only a little more, and in a second bathroom or a flat it often saves fitting a separate shower altogether — worth the difference if there is no shower already.

There is also a wider two-handle deck bath filler in the range if you prefer that arrangement.

What you are getting for the money

Being straight about it: this is a simple tap. There is no design story and no clever spout. What it does have, which cheaper supermarket taps often do not:

• Solid brass body, not zinc alloy or plastic — the thing that determines whether a tap survives a decade
• Ceramic disc cartridge, so it should not drip the way a washer tap eventually will
• Lifetime guarantee on the body, 1 year on moving parts — unusual at this price

Before you order

This is a two tap hole deck-mounted tap.

Bath fillers use 3/4" BSP connections — larger than the 1/2" on basin taps — so check your existing tails.

The waste is sold separately. Kartell’s own spec sheet lists a click waste against this tap, but a click waste is a basin fitting rather than a bath one, so treat that as a misprint on their part and budget for a bath waste and overflow set.

Suitable for low pressure systems, though on gravity-fed plumbing any bath tap fills slowly. That is the system, not the tap.
