Kartell K-VIT G4K Bath Shower Mixer – Chrome (TAP112G4K)

Kartell K-VIT G4K Bath Shower Mixer – Chrome (TAP112G4K)

The Kartell K-VIT G4K range is the budget end of the Kartell brassware line — plain, chrome, and priced for a rental, a second bathroom, or a job where the taps need to work rather than impress. Kartell call it “reliable and highly functional… whilst keeping under budget”, which is a fair description.

This is the bath shower mixer: a deck-mounted bath tap with a diverter and a shower handset on a flexible hose.

Often the most useful tap in the range

It fills the bath like a normal bath filler, and the diverter sends water to the handset instead — so you can shower over the bath without a separate shower installation at all.

In a second bathroom, a flat or a rental that has a bath but no shower, this is frequently the cheapest way to add showering. It costs only a little more than the plain G4K bath filler and saves fitting a valve, riser rail and screen.

The honest limitation

Suitable for low pressure systems, and this is where expectations need setting. On gravity-fed plumbing the tap will work, but the handset will be a gentle spray rather than a powerful shower. That is your water pressure, not the tap.

On a combi or mains pressure you will get a perfectly usable shower. On a tank in the loft and a hot cylinder, treat this as a rinse-and-hair-wash solution rather than a proper shower — or budget for a pump.

What you are getting for the money

Being straight about it: this is a simple tap. There is no design story and no clever spout. What it does have, which cheaper supermarket taps often do not:

• Solid brass body, not zinc alloy or plastic — the thing that determines whether a tap survives a decade
• Ceramic disc cartridge, so it should not drip the way a washer tap eventually will
• Lifetime guarantee on the body, 1 year on moving parts — unusual at this price

Before you order

This is a two tap hole deck-mounted tap, and it uses 3/4" BSP connections, larger than basin taps.

The waste is sold separately.

The rest of the G4K range

Match it with the mono basin mixer, which includes a click waste, or a pair of basin taps. There are also bath taps as a pair and a wider deck bath filler.
