The Kartell K-VIT G4K range is the budget end of the Kartell brassware line — plain, chrome, and priced for a rental, a second bathroom, or a job where the taps need to work rather than impress. Kartell call it “reliable and highly functional… whilst keeping under budget”, which is a fair description.

This is a pair of 3/4" bath taps: two separate taps, one hot and one cold.

Pillar taps or a bath filler?

Pillar taps are the two-tap arrangement — no mixing. You fill the bath with both running and mix in the bath itself.

Where they genuinely make sense is a two tap hole bath you are keeping. Fitting a bath filler instead would still work on a two-hole bath, but pillar taps are the cheaper swap and the simpler fit — useful in a rental where you are replacing tired taps rather than redoing the bathroom.

The honest trade-off: you cannot set a temperature at the tap.

Note the 3/4" size

These are 3/4" bath taps, not the 1/2" size used on basins. Bath taps are larger so the bath fills in reasonable time. If you are looking for basin taps you want the 1/2" G4K pair instead — they look similar but will not interchange.

What you are getting for the money

Being straight about it: this is a simple tap. There is no design story and no clever spout. What it does have, which cheaper supermarket taps often do not:

• Solid brass body, not zinc alloy or plastic — the thing that determines whether a tap survives a decade
• Ceramic disc cartridge, so it should not drip the way a washer tap eventually will
• Lifetime guarantee on the body, 1 year on moving parts — unusual at this price

Before you order

Check your bath has two tap holes at the correct centres.

The waste is sold separately.

Suitable for low pressure systems, so they work on gravity-fed plumbing as well as mains pressure — though on low pressure any bath tap fills slowly.
