The Kartell K-VIT G4K range is the budget end of the Kartell brassware line — plain, chrome, and priced for a rental, a second bathroom, or a job where the taps need to work rather than impress. Kartell call it “reliable and highly functional… whilst keeping under budget”, which is a fair description.

This is the deck bath filler: a wider, flatter tap that sits across the rim of the bath, with two handles either side of a central spout.

Deck filler or the standard bath filler?

The difference you can see is the layout. The standard G4K bath filler is a compact single-lever unit; this one is a wider two-handle design that spreads across the deck of the bath, and it is the better-looking option on a bath with a broad flat rim or a tiled surround where the tap sits on the platform rather than the bath itself.

Both are two tap hole taps. Measure your tap hole centres before ordering — Kartell do not publish the centres for either filler, and the wrong spacing is the single most common reason bath taps go back. If you are replacing like for like, measure the existing holes and check against the data sheet below.

Two handles also means you set hot and cold separately, which is slower than a single lever but gives finer control.

What you are getting for the money

Being straight about it: this is a simple tap. There is no design story and no clever spout. What it does have, which cheaper supermarket taps often do not:

• Solid brass body, not zinc alloy or plastic — the thing that determines whether a tap survives a decade
• Ceramic disc cartridge, so it should not drip the way a washer tap eventually will
• Lifetime guarantee on the body, 1 year on moving parts — unusual at this price

Before you order

Uses 3/4" BSP connections, larger than basin taps.

The waste is sold separately.

Suitable for low pressure systems, though on gravity-fed plumbing any bath tap fills slowly — that is the system, not the tap.
