The Carron QSS-1 in black is the fixed-profile version of Carron's shower bath screen, with a black profile instead of chrome. It is a single fixed panel – there is no hinged section, so nothing folds and nothing works loose over time. The black frame suits a bathroom with black brassware or black-framed furniture, where a chrome screen would be the odd one out.

It stands 1400mm high and 810mm wide, with a 170mm return panel at the wall, in 6mm toughened glass.

QSS-1 or QSS-2?

Carron make two screens for these baths. They are the same size and the same glass – the difference is whether the panel moves.

Also available in chrome, and see the hinged QSS-2 if you would rather the panel folded.

Fits these baths

One screen covers both L-shaped ranges and every version of them – any length, left or right hand, in either finish. There is no separate handed version to choose.

Specification

Before you order

• Not for use with power showers or body jets. Carron say so on the data sheet – a bath screen is splash protection, not a shower enclosure, and a high-pressure shower will push water past it.
• Check what is behind the tiles. The screen fixes to the wall at the showering end and needs something solid to fix into – worth planning before the tiling goes on rather than after.
• Black shows water marks more than chrome. Not a fault, just the nature of a dark frame in a wet room – a squeegee and a wipe down keeps it looking right.

Fitting tips

Fit the bath and let the silicone seal along the walls cure fully before hanging the screen, so the bath cannot settle afterwards and break the seal. Seal along the bottom of the screen where it meets the bath rim, and leave the vertical wall joint until last so any water that does get behind can find its way back into the bath.
