The Carron QSS-2 is the hinged screen made for Carron's L-shaped shower baths. It is built in two panels: a fixed section against the wall, and an outer section on a hinge that swings back through 90 degrees. That means you can fold it out of the way to clean the bath, bathe a child or get to the taps, then swing it back when you shower.

It stands 1400mm high and 810mm wide, with a 170mm return panel at the wall, in 6mm toughened glass and a chrome profile.

QSS-1 or QSS-2?

Carron make two screens for these baths, and the difference is whether the panel moves.

If you would rather have a fixed screen, see the QSS-1 in chrome or black. All three are the same size and the same 6mm glass.

One screen covers both L-shaped ranges and every version of them – any length, left or right hand, in either finish. There is no separate handed version to choose.

Specification

Before you order

• Not for use with power showers or body jets. Carron say so on the data sheet – a bath screen is splash protection, not a shower enclosure, and a high-pressure shower will push water past it.
• Check what is behind the tiles. The screen fixes to the wall at the showering end and needs something solid to fix into – worth planning before the tiling goes on rather than after.
• Leave room for the hinge. The outer panel swings out into the room, so check nothing is in its arc – a radiator, a door or a basin close to the bath will get in the way.
• It is a screen, not a door. At 810mm wide it covers the showering end of the bath, not its full length, so expect some splash beyond it.

Fitting tips

Fit the bath and let the silicone seal along the walls cure fully before hanging the screen, so the bath cannot settle afterwards and break the seal. Seal along the bottom of the screen where it meets the bath rim, and leave the vertical wall joint until last so any water that does get behind can find its way back into the bath. Check the hinge swings freely before you seal anything.
