Twin outlet means a diverter

Twin outlet (this one) feeds two things and lets you switch between them — typically a fixed overhead drencher and a slide rail kit with handset. That's what most people want in a main bathroom: rainfall for showering, handset for rinsing and cleaning.

If you only need one outlet, the single outlet valve costs a little less — but adding a second outlet later means opening the wall.

This has to be planned before you tile

A concealed valve buries the mechanism in the wall, leaving only the control plate on show. The valve body must be set at the right depth and height before boarding and tiling. A stud wall needs noggins to fix to; a solid wall needs chasing out.
