Kartell K-VIT KV6 Bi-Fold Shower Door – Chrome (All Sizes)

A bi-fold door folds inwards on itself as it opens, so it needs almost no clearance in front of the shower. That makes the Kartell K-VIT KV6 bi-fold the door to choose in a tight bathroom where a hinged or pivot door would swing into the basin, the loo or the doorway. It's 1850mm tall and carries Kartell's lifetime guarantee.

Recess or corner — build it here

Use the dropdowns above to build what you need. On its own the door fits a recess, with walls on both sides. Add a side panel and you have a corner enclosure.

The side panel is the depth of your shower and is chosen independently of the door width — a 900mm door with a 760mm panel is a perfectly normal combination if that's the shape of your corner. Panels are 6mm glass, frameless on the outer edge, and have about 20mm of adjustment.

Measuring up — read this before you order

Shower doors are sold by nominal size but fitted to an adjustment range, and it's the range that matters. Each door has roughly 40mm of built-in tolerance to cope with walls that aren't plumb.

Measure your recess at floor level, at the height of the door track, and again near the top, then work to the narrowest of the three. If that figure falls inside the range in the table below, the door fits. If it falls between two sizes, go with the smaller door and make up the gap with the KV6 extension profile kit (SIXEXT), which adds up to 20mm on each side.

Mind the door entry width

The nominal size is the opening the door fits into — not how wide the gap is when you step through it. Because a bi-fold folds back on itself, the actual entry is considerably narrower, and it varies a lot across the range: 430mm on the 700 but 630mm on the 900. If access matters, or someone using the shower is less steady on their feet, buy on the entry figure rather than the nominal size.

Glass

The KV6 bi-fold door uses 4mm toughened safety glass. That's thinner than the 6mm used on the KV6 pivot and sliding doors — and thinner than the side panels, which are 6mm. Pairing a 6mm panel with a 4mm door is how Kartell supply the range and is perfectly normal, but it's worth knowing if you're expecting them to feel identical. If you want 6mm throughout in a small space, the pivot door is the closer alternative.
