Description
Description
A sliding door runs along its own track rather than swinging, so it takes up no floor space at all when opening. That makes the Kartell K-VIT KV6 sliding door the natural choice for a wider recess — particularly where a bath has come out and left a long alcove, or where the bathroom door or basin sits close to the shower.
It's 1850mm tall in 6mm toughened glass with a polished chrome frame, and reversible, so it can be hung to open from either side.
Recess or corner — build it here
Use the dropdowns above to build what you need. On its own the door fits a recess, with walls on both sides. Add a side panel and you have a corner enclosure.
The side panel is the depth of your shower and is chosen independently of the door width — a 1700mm door with a 760mm panel is a common combination where a bath has come out. Panels are 6mm glass, matching the door, frameless on the outer edge, with about 20mm of adjustment.
Measuring up — read this before you order
Shower doors are sold by nominal size but fitted to an adjustment range, and it's the range that matters. Each door has roughly 40mm of built-in tolerance for walls that aren't plumb.
Measure your recess at floor level, at handle height, and near the top, then work to the narrowest of the three. If that figure sits inside the range below, the door fits. If you fall between two sizes, take the smaller door and make up the difference with the KV6 extension profile kit (SIXEXT), which adds up to 20mm each side.
Entry width scales with the door
On a sliding door roughly half the opening is fixed glass, so the gap you step through is about half the nominal size — 400mm on the 1000, rising to 750mm on the 1700. That's the figure to buy on if access matters. It's also why a 1000mm sliding door gives a narrower entry than a 900mm pivot door despite being wider overall: if you have the clearance to swing a door, a pivot gives better access per millimetre of wall.

Living with it
Sliding doors run on rollers, and rollers are the part that eventually needs attention. Keeping the bottom track clear of hair and soap residue is the single thing that most extends their life — a wipe along the track when you clean the glass is enough. The lifetime guarantee covers the door; moving parts are covered for one year.
These are heavy. The 1700mm door is nearly 50kg boxed, and a 900mm panel adds another 26kg, so plan for two people on delivery and again on fitting. Door and panel arrive as separate items.
