Kartell K-VIT Nero Round Concealed Thermostatic Shower Valve – Matt Black (SHO045NR)

The Kartell K-VIT Nero Round range is matt black metalwork with soft, rounded forms — the shower side of the Nero Round brassware. This is the concealed thermostatic shower valve, single outlet.

Single outlet or diverter?

Single outlet (this one) feeds one thing — either a fixed head or a slide rail kit with handset, not both.

If you want both and the ability to switch, you need the valve with diverter. Adding a second outlet later means opening the wall, so decide now rather than economising.

This has to be planned before you tile

A concealed valve buries the mechanism in the wall, leaving only the control plate on show. The valve body must be set at the right depth and height before the wall is boarded and tiled. Too deep and the plate won't sit flush; too shallow and it stands proud.

A stud wall needs noggins to fix to; a solid wall needs chasing out. Kartell supply fitting instructions as well as a data sheet — both linked below, and worth reading before the plasterer arrives.

Thermostatic and WRAS approved

A thermostatic valve holds the temperature you set even if water is drawn elsewhere in the house, and shuts down if the cold supply fails — the safety feature that matters in a family bathroom.

It's also a WRAS approved product, meaning it meets the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme standard for materials in contact with drinking water. Installers and building control officers do ask.

Living with matt black

Matt black shows limescale and water spotting more than chrome, and a shower valve sits in the wettest place in the house. Wipe it dry after use to keep it sharp.

Never use abrasive cleaners or limescale remover. The finish is a coating rather than plating, and harsh chemicals will dull or strip it. Warm soapy water and a soft cloth only.

The valve is the control only. You'll also need an outlet — the Nero Round fixed head and arm, or the Nero Round slide rail kit with a round outlet elbow.
