Kartell K-VIT Unity Quadrant Low Profile Shower Tray – White (All Sizes)

A quadrant tray has a curved front edge that sweeps between two walls, so it tucks into a corner without the sharp corners of a square tray jutting out into the room. In a small bathroom that curve is the difference between squeezing past the shower and walking past it. The Kartell K-VIT Unity quadrant is the low profile version, sitting just 45mm off the floor rather than the 80–110mm of an older-style tray.

What it's made of

Unity trays are moulded from acrylic-capped stone resin and double skinned. The stone resin core gives the tray its rigidity and its weight — it won't creak or flex underfoot the way a thin acrylic tray can — while the ABS acrylic cap gives a hard, non-porous surface that wipes clean and holds its colour rather than yellowing. Every Unity tray is made in Britain and carries Kartell's 25 year guarantee.

Choosing your size

The measurements below are the two straight sides that meet the walls, not the width of the curve, so measure your corner along the walls at floor level. 800mm is the practical minimum for a comfortable shower, 900mm is the size most people settle on, and 1000mm gives plenty of elbow room if the corner allows it.

If your two walls aren't equal — say one run is 1200mm and the other 800mm — you want an offset quadrant instead, which has the same curved front but one side longer than the other.

Quadrant trays need a matching curved quadrant enclosure at the same dimensions; a straight enclosure won't follow the curve.

You'll need a waste

Unity trays are supplied without a waste, and an ordinary shower waste will not fit — the outlet takes a 90mm fast flow waste. Add one from the dropdown above in chrome (FFW90), matt black, brushed brass or white, or choose "Without a waste" if you're reusing one. The fast flow design clears water quickly, which matters more on a low profile tray because there is less depth to hold a surge.

Fitting it

On a solid floor the trap needs to sit below floor level, so the pipework usually has to be chased in. Where that isn't practical — a timber floor, an upstairs bathroom, or a concrete slab you'd rather not cut — the Unity quadrant riser kit (UNP100Q100) lifts the tray onto a 90mm plinth and comes with a curved gloss white front panel shaped to follow the tray. The legs adjust between 90 and 120mm; going above 90mm means sourcing a taller plinth. Riser kits carry a 1 year guarantee rather than the 25 years on the tray.

Stone resin is heavy — the 900mm tray is around 20kg — so treat it as a two-person lift.
