The Kartell K-VIT Plan range is round-bodied and quietly contemporary. This is a pair of basin pillar taps: two separate taps, one hot and one cold.

Pillar taps or a mixer?

Pillar taps are the traditional arrangement — two separate taps, no mixing. Hot from one, cold from the other.

Choose them where the basin has two tap holes. If your basin has a single central hole, you want the Plan mono basin mixer instead — and that one includes a waste, which this pair doesn't.

Where pillar taps genuinely win is on a two-hole basin you're keeping. Fitting a mixer would mean replacing the basin, so a pair of taps is both the cheaper swap and the simpler fit.

The honest trade-off: you can't set a temperature at the tap.

One thing to note before ordering

Kartell list these with 3/4" flexi hoses, not included. Most basin pillar taps use 1/2" tails, so check what your existing pipework and isolating valves are before fitting — and budget for connectors, since the hoses aren't supplied with the taps.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems, so they work on gravity-fed plumbing as well as mains pressure.

Living with them

The ceramic disc cartridges with quarter-turn operation are far less prone to dripping than traditional washer taps.
