Description
Description
A pivot door swings outwards on a hinge at one edge, giving you the widest possible opening for the space it occupies. The Kartell K-VIT KV6 pivot is the 6mm door in the KV6 range — thicker glass than the bi-fold, a simpler mechanism with less to go wrong, and generally the better choice wherever you have room for a door to swing.
It stands 1850mm tall, is reversible so it can hang left or right, and carries Kartell's lifetime guarantee.
Recess or corner — build it here
Use the dropdowns above to build what you need. On its own the door fits a recess, with walls on both sides. Add a side panel and you have a corner enclosure.
The side panel is the depth of your shower and is chosen independently of the door width — a 900mm door with a 760mm panel is perfectly normal if that's the shape of your corner. Panels are 6mm glass, matching the door, frameless on the outer edge, with about 20mm of adjustment.
Pivot or bi-fold?
The pivot needs clearance in front of the shower for the door to open into. In a small bathroom, check nothing sits in that arc — the basin, the loo, or the door into the room. If it does, the KV6 bi-fold folds inwards and needs no clearance at all, though it uses 4mm glass rather than 6mm.
Worth knowing: at every size, the pivot and the bi-fold give the same door entry width. You aren't trading access for the swing — you're trading floor clearance for thicker glass.
Measuring up — read this before you order
Shower doors are sold by nominal size but fitted to an adjustment range, and it's the range that matters. Each door has roughly 40mm of built-in tolerance for walls that aren't plumb.
Measure your recess at floor level, at handle height, and near the top, then work to the narrowest of the three. If that figure sits inside the range below, the door fits. If you fall between two sizes, take the smaller door and make up the gap with the KV6 extension profile kit (SIXEXT), which adds up to 20mm each side.
