The Kartell K-VIT Ottone range is the brushed brass collection. This is the adjustable slide rail kit — a wall-mounted rail with a handset that slides up and down and tilts.

Why a slide rail

A slide rail is the most practical showering arrangement there is. The handset height adjusts for different people, it lifts off for rinsing and cleaning, and it's the only sensible option at low pressure — where an overhead drencher feels like drizzle, a handset still gives a usable shower.

In a family bathroom it's usually the more useful of the two. Many people fit both, using the Ottone valve with diverter to switch between rail and drencher.

What you also need

The kit is the rail, handset and hose. It doesn't include the water supply connection, so you'll also want a round outlet elbow in matching brass, plus a shower valve to feed it.

If you'd rather have the handset on a fixed bracket than a sliding rail, the wall outlet bracket with handset and hose does that job in one piece and includes the outlet.

Solid brass

Rail, handset and bracket are solid brass with a 5 year guarantee, which is why this costs more than a typical slide rail kit. At 0.58kg it's light for brass, so the rail itself is slim rather than chunky.

Living with brushed brass

The brushed surface hides water spotting and limescale better than a mirror finish. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth; avoid abrasives and limescale remover.
