The Kartell K-VIT Ottone range is the brushed brass collection — warm, premium metalwork designed to run right through a bathroom. This is the concealed thermostatic shower valve with diverter, the two-outlet version and the most capable valve in the range.

What the diverter gives you

Two outlets and a control to switch between them — typically a fixed overhead drencher and a slide rail kit with handset. Rainfall for showering, handset for rinsing, washing hair and cleaning the enclosure.

That's what most people want in a main bathroom, and it's the arrangement Ottone is really designed around. If you only need one outlet, the single outlet valve costs meaningfully less — but adding a second outlet later means opening the wall, so decide now.

This has to be planned before you tile

A concealed valve buries the mechanism in the wall, leaving only the control plate on show. The valve body must be set at the right depth and height before the wall is boarded and tiled. Too deep and the plate won't sit flush; too shallow and it stands proud.

A stud wall needs noggins to fix to; a solid wall needs chasing out. Kartell supply fitting instructions as well as a data sheet, both linked below — on a valve at this price, read them before the plasterer arrives.

Thermostatic, and why that matters

Holds the temperature you set even if water is drawn elsewhere in the house, and shuts down if the cold supply fails.

Suitable for all plumbing systems, with a minimum pressure of 0.2 bar. Worth being straight though: at that pressure an overhead drencher will feel like a drizzle. Rainfall heads want proper pressure to be worth having, so on gravity-fed plumbing budget for a pump if the drencher is the point.

Why brushed brass

Warm and premium, and more forgiving than chrome day to day — the brushed surface hides water spotting and limescale better than a mirror finish.

Ottone only really works as a scheme. Kartell make matching brass wetroom screens, bath screens, wastes, towel rails and brassware. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth; avoid abrasives and limescale remover.

What else you'll need

The valve is the control only. For the full two-outlet setup you'll want the fixed overhead drencher, the slide rail kit and a round outlet elbow — or the wall outlet bracket with handset if you'd rather have the handset parked on a bracket than on a rail.
